Analytical Purchasing Software

Most purchasing software focuses on purchase order creation and administration. The Buyer's Toolkit is all about the money.

Problems Addressed

“Prices always go up!”

Not true, but suppliers will quote year over year price increases simply to reduce their risk. You need price escalation data to challenge unwarranted price increases.

“I don’t have time to get multiple bids.  How do I know what price is reasonable?”

Price analysis is a fundamental buying tool used to determine the reasonableness of an offered price. It is based upon comparisons. In most buying situations you will be comparing apples to oranges. Your comparison may need to adjust for time, quantity, or productivity. You need a tool that seamlessly makes these adjustments for you.

“Who is going to train the new buyer?”

The Buyer’s Toolkit sports comprehensive training materials. Each technique features an Info button which will review the fundamentals of the analysis or calculation being employed.

Clicking the Demo button will step you through a realistic business scenario showing how to use the software.

The Procurement Training module provides a more comprehensive guidance on a variety of procurement topics in a presentation style format.

“The supplier offered a discount for larger  order quantities.  What now?”

Deciding how to schedule material deliveries to support your production lines is an exercise in trade-offs. Too much material too soon and the inventory carrying costs start piling up. Receiving too many small lots of material burns manpower. The Buyer’s Toolkit can optimize your scheduling choices.

“The supplier offered a lower price if we accelerate the delivery schedule.  Is it worth it?”

Suppliers have many reasons for wanting to accelerate delivery schedules. Lot size efficiencies, period revenue maximization, or scheduling conflicts are just a few. They may offer a price concession. You need a method to evaluate the proposed schedule acceleration.

In 1989 we launched the first incarnation of The Buyer's Toolkit. It was marketed through direct mail and delivered on a single floppy diskette. We advertised in printed trade magazines and sent demonstration diskettes to registered companies via bulk mail. The software was green screen and pretty dull and boring.

Today the software is state of the art, but still dull and boring. We are not going to lie to you. This is really dry material. Our aim is to help buyers get through the dull and boring more efficiently so that there is more time for the fun stuff.
